Washington, D.C. — U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi has appointed Stephanie Creasy as Deputy Director of the United States Marshals Service, making her the first woman to hold the position.
Creasy, a Memphis, Tennessee native, has served as Acting Deputy Director since July 2025 under USMS Director Gadyaces S. Serralta. As Deputy Director, she becomes the second-in-command of the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency.
In her new role, Creasy will assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for more than 5,000 operational and administrative employees across 94 judicial districts, 218 sub-offices, and four foreign field offices. Her responsibilities include oversight of federal judicial and court security, fugitive and sex offender investigations, witness security, asset forfeiture, prisoner operations, and assistance during federal emergencies and critical incidents.
“Stephanie Creasy has distinguished herself as a senior leader within the U.S. Marshals Service, and I am honored to have her serve as our Deputy Director,” Serralta said. “Her leadership will strengthen our enduring commitment to protecting the judiciary, reducing violent crime, and making America safe again.”
Creasy began her career with the USMS in 1998 as a Deputy United States Marshal in Salt Lake City, Utah. Over the years, she has served in numerous roles, including recruiting officer, warrants coordinator, public affairs officer, Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force coordinator, and sexual offender investigative coordinator.
Her investigative work included assignments with the Drug Enforcement Administration OCDETF in the Western District of Tennessee, where she helped dismantle drug trafficking organizations and arrest high-profile fugitives, including former USMS 15 Most Wanted fugitive Craig Petties. She later served as a senior inspector in the Technical Operations Group, completing hundreds of investigations, including the recovery of missing children.
Creasy has also led several agency-wide initiatives, such as implementing the USMS Distance Learning Program and integrating Basic Deputy U.S. Marshal and Criminal Investigator training.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in technical and professional writing from the University of Memphis and a master’s degree in public administration from Troy University.
