Marion County, OR. — Ruben Robert Navarro-Herrera, 31, of Albany, has been sentenced to 85 months in prison for attempting to rob a West Salem man outside his home. Navarro-Herrera fled the scene but was quickly located and arrested by Salem Police officers with help from alert citizens.
During the investigation, officers discovered he was carrying a loaded stolen firearm along with commercial-level quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Navarro-Herrera pleaded guilty to Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Commercial Drug Offense), and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was sentenced by Polk County Circuit Judge Rafael Caso. Following his prison term, he will serve 35 months of Post-Prison Supervision.
The case was investigated by the Salem Police Department and prosecuted by Polk County Deputy District Attorney Garrett Lewellen.
