Oregon — The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is inviting volunteers to apply for openings on the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Committee, which will begin new four-year terms on January 1, 2026.
The nine-member committee reviews and evaluates grant proposals for public outdoor recreation projects seeking funding through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Grant Program, administered by OPRD and funded by the National Park Service.
Current openings include:
- A member representing the public-at-large
- A member representing a historically underrepresented community or Tribal Government
- A member representing cities with populations over 15,000 (must be professionally associated with a city and have a recommendation from the Oregon Recreation and Park Association or the League of Oregon Cities)
Interested individuals must submit a committee interest form by November 24, 2025. OPRD will conduct informal interviews before final appointments are confirmed by the agency director.
Committee members typically meet once per year, either virtually or at locations around Oregon, and review 15–20 grant applications per funding cycle.
Ideal candidates can reside anywhere in Oregon and should have experience in outdoor recreation planning or design, volunteerism, or other relevant engagement in outdoor recreation. Strong applicants should also demonstrate an understanding of statewide recreation needs and a commitment to equitable and accessible opportunities for all Oregonians.
