Hood River, OR. — The Oregon Wildlife Foundation (OWF) is rebranding its Spruce Gifts and Provisions stores in Bonneville and Hood River as OWF Gift Shops, a move designed to connect retail visitors directly with the Foundation’s wildlife conservation mission.
Founded in 1989 at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, the flagship store was joined by a second location on Oak Street in downtown Hood River in 2020. The updated name and branding aim to increase public awareness of OWF’s statewide conservation efforts while reinforcing the link between shopping and supporting Oregon’s natural habitats.
“Our goal is to increase awareness of OWF,” said General Manager Heather Pola. “We’re using our gift shops as a vehicle to drive more traffic to the Foundation’s website, deepen awareness of our work, and give back to the cause.”
The shops feature Oregon-made goods, nature-inspired items, and products connected to OWF-funded initiatives. Net proceeds support wildlife habitat restoration and conservation projects across the state. Executive Director Tim Greseth emphasized that sales “are an important part of how OWF carries out our statewide conservation work” and a means of engaging the public in protecting Oregon’s wildlife.
The on-site café, Herman’s Coffee Bar, has also been revamped with a focus on Pacific Northwest brands and locally sourced flavors. “Every cup of coffee now ties into our broader mission of supporting Oregon’s wildlife and communities,” Pola said.
In addition to merchandise and café updates, OWF Gift Shops introduced a donation-at-checkout feature earlier this year, raising funds for conservation programs and strengthening the Foundation’s outreach. Plans for the coming year include new Oregon brand collaborations, expanded product lines tied to conservation projects, and community events such as group hikes and artist showcases.
“The evolution of the gift shops is really inspiring,” Pola said. “We welcome everyone to visit and see how every purchase supports Oregon’s wildlife.”
