LEBANON, Ore.—Republican consultant Jonathan Lockwood filed to run against Democrat Rep. Janelle Bynum and released the following statement:
“Janelle Bynum needs to go. She is my congresswoman and doesn’t represent Oregonians from either side of the aisle.
“I was fighting on the front lines to defeat her agenda when she was in the legislature working to protect rapists over supporting survivors, pushing harmful legislation to rob parents of their rights and Oregonians of informed consent and medical freedom, and voting to disarm law-abiding Oregonians and against their self-defense rights, and pushing cap and trade. You can fairly say that Janelle rides with rapists, drug pushers and criminals and turns a blind eye to genocide.
“Janelle is killing Oregonians with her policies and she acts like she’s on Bravo, not a sound policymaker who manifests improved outcomes for people here at home. She is embarrassing our state and ignoring the voices of Oregonians. She recently voted to shut down the government and give the middle finger to Oregon federal workers and people from across the political spectrum who just want Congress to function.
“We need common-sense policies that advance economic development, rein in federal spending, reduce costs of health care and foster wiser foreign policy and national security measures. We need to get a grip on the rampant lawlessness that’s gone on and on inadequately countered in Oregon.
“Janelle will be facing her worst nightmare with me running against her — we will take back this seat and have real representation in Washington D.C.“
Lockwood is a political consultant who was instrumental in killing anti-Second Amendment legislation and organized with Radian Weapons to mobilize the Defend the Second rally in 2019 and other groups throughout the session like Oregonians for Medical Freedom. He has a master’s degree in public relations from Georgetown University and journalism degree from Metropolitan State University in Colorado. He is nearing completing his J.D a year early at Santa Clara University and studied international law at Universiteit Leiden Campus The Hague and University of Cambridge Emmanuel College.
