SALEM, Ore. — On Wednesday evening, the House Republican Caucus voted to elect Representative Lucetta Elmer (R-McMinnville) as their new leader, replacing Representative Christine Drazan (R-Canby). Representative Alek Skarlatos (R-Winston) was elected as deputy leader.
Representative Elmer has served in the House Republican Caucus since 2023. In 2024, she was elected to serve as deputy leader. Elmer is a member of several House committees, including the House Committee on Labor and Workforce Development, where she serves as vice chair.
“I am honored to be selected as House Republican Leader and I commit to leading with strength, respect, and diplomacy; ensuring that the voices of all Oregonians are represented,” said Rep. Elmer. “It was an honor to serve as deputy leader under Representative Christine Drazan, and I look forward to leading with Senate Republican Leader Bruce Starr.”
“Representative Lucetta Elmer has demonstrated a commitment to Oregonians in her role as deputy leader, and I trust that she will continue fighting to lower costs, make homeownership more affordable, fix our schools, end homelessness, as leader,” said Rep. Drazan. “I would like to thank House Republicans for giving me the privilege to lead through the 2025 session and recent special session.”
“I would like to thank my fellow caucus members for their support to be a part of this amazing leadership team as we fight to grow our caucus and forge a better future for Oregon,” said Rep. Skarlatos. “I would also like to congratulate Representative Lucetta Elmer on her new role as leader and thank Representative Christine Drazan for her leadership. I am confident that together we can effectively fight for everyday Oregonians who have been ignored for far too long.”
