Eugene Police respond to fatal bicycle/vehicle crash at Beltline near W. 11th/Roosevelt
On October 20, a bicyclist was fatally struck by a Toyota Prius while crossing Beltline Highway in Eugene, OR. Investigators cited lack of lighting on the bike as a potential factor.
Eugene, OR. – Official Release: At 7:56 p.m. on October 20, Eugene Police responded to Beltline Highway, between W. 11th Avenue, and Roosevelt Boulevard, after a collision between a bicyclist and a Toyota Prius. A man on a bicycle was travelling on the shoulder of Beltline and attempted the cross the highway when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Bystanders attempted CPR, however the man died on scene. Lack of lighting equipment on the bicycle may have been a factor in the crash.
