Vancouver, WA. – Official Release: On August 20, 2024, at about 1550 hours, the Vancouver Police Department Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit (DECU), with the assistance of the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), UAS operators, and the United States Marshals Service (USMS), arrested Michael McGlothlin, a Vancouver resident, for Attempted Kidnapping.
On August 19, 2024, the Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit missing persons detectives identified Michael McGlothlin as the suspect of the attempted abduction on 8/18/24, due in part, to surveillance footage which captured the vehicle in multiple areas around the scene of the crime. McGlothlin was driving a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee which was registered to a rental car company. McGlothlin was not the listed renter.
Based on intel gathered by detectives on 8/20/24, they learned the possible whereabouts of McGlothlin. Surveillance was established near NE 18th Street and NE 148th Avenue, Vancouver WA. McGlothlin was seen walking at the intersection where he was apprehended. He will be booked into the Clark County Jail. This investigation is on-going.
Based on information provided to detectives, Michael McGlothlin will be booked for Unlawful Imprisonment and Assault IV and not Attempted Kidnapping.
