Coos County, OR. – Official Release: On July 28th, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Coos County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence on Big Creek Road in Myrtle Point. Deputy Z. Smith was dispatched to investigate.
Upon arrival, Deputy Smith discovered that the suspect, Robert Thompson (63), who was on release for domestic crimes, was prohibited from contacting the identified victim in that case. Deputy Smith found that Mr. Thompson and the protected party were on the property and in contact with each other, which led to the dispute.
Deputy Smith arrested Mr. Thompson for violating the court-ordered no-contact agreement and transported him to the Coos County Jail.
Mr. Thompson remains in custody, facing Contempt of Court charges due to the violation.
