UPDATE: USGS “Did You Feel It” Web & Winlink ShakeOut Exercise

The US Geological Survey now invites everyone to provide 2023 ShakeOut “Did You Feel It?” (DYFI) earthquake intensity reports through a special 2023 USGS Scenario DYFI site on October 19, 2023, at or after 10:19 local time.

DFYI collects information from people who felt an earthquake and creates maps that show what people experienced and the extent of damage. For the 2023 ShakeOut, everyone can submit a report as if they had just experienced strong shaking in their area.

All community members, groups and organizations may download and follow the step-by-step 2023 ShakeOut Web DYFI Instructions PDF to submit their DYFI reports to USGS. Please note that the DFYI link is only for the 2023 ShakeOut!

In addition, volunteer radio group Winlink users are invited to send Exercise Winlink DYFI reports on October 19, 2023, at or after 10:19 local time with Exercise ID: 2023SHAKEOUT. Winlink is a network of amateur radio and authorized government stations that provide worldwide radio email using radio pathways where the internet is not present, and is well-known for its role in interoperable emergency and disaster relief communications. Winlink users may follow the step-by-step Winlink DYFI Exercise instructions to submit their DYFI reports to the USGS.
