August 8, 2023 – Sara Bristol, Grants Pass Mayor
The voters of Grants Pass elected me, and I’m not resigning.
RETAIN MAYOR BRISTOL — NO ON THE RECALL
Facts to consider:
• Mayor is an unpaid, nonpartisan position.
• The Mayor does not vote except to break a tie; the City Council sets policy.
• I have NOT stopped Council, the city manager or the police from taking action to address homelessness in our parks.
• I endorsed the Council’s June 21 ordinance that gave police more authority to enforce rules in the parks.
I believe this recall effort is a misleading, highly partisan attempt to scapegoat someone for a crisis that has been years in the making and was the subject of a federal lawsuit the city lost before I even took office.
The recall petitioners have been dishonest about the Mayor’s role and limited authority — the Mayor does not vote except to break a council tie. The claims made against me are vague and lack substance.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor. I have always been open and willing to listen to all sides. Like you, I want our parks back, and I will continue to advocate for solutions. I ask for your continued support.
VOTE NO on the recall. Thank you.
— Sara Bristol

In my opinion: City of Grants Pass Mayor Sara Bristol does not represent the conservative principles of the majority of her constituents. Mayor Sara Bristol’s repeated failures to protect the rights of the citizens of Grants Pass is cause for her recall. Mayor Sara Bristol has not succeeded in making our community safer. Mayor Sara Bristol has supported higher taxes and policies that endanger our families and children. I have no confidence in the performance of Mayor Sara Bristol. I believe that it is time for a change and that time is now.
