Wow, it’s been quite a (hot) summer! I know many of you have been busy with fairs, picnics, and events and I hope they are all going great.
A couple of weeks ago, I took a fun trip along the Columbia River to The Dalles to visit with Wasco GOP Chair John Grant and his team along with Hood River GOP Chair Dani Correa. I really enjoyed visiting and hearing what’s going on in those two counties and got some great suggestions to work on!
Last week, I went down to John Day to visit with Grant County Chair Frances Preston and several members of her team. Frances treated us to breakfast and as we ate, I was able to answer a number of questions, share some ideas, and get a lot of feedback from the folks in Grant County. Then we headed to the fair!
Thank you John, Dani, and Frances for your time and the wonderful visits. I’ve received a number of invites from several of your counties and look forward to seeing as many of you as I can over the next couple of months!
Way to go Ben!
Last month the RNC held our annual Western Region RNC Meeting in Denver, CO and this year County Chairs from each state in the region were invited. Linn County GOP Chair Ben Roche was invited to attend and he represented you all very well.
Ben participated in various trainings, asked questions, and interacted with others. Ben was able to stick around for an extra day and got to sit in on some of the trainings, information, and dinner with several RNC members that were there. He came back and immediately reached out to other County Chairs to share what he’d learned. At the following Grassroots Advisory Committee Meeting, we talked about the criteria for inviting County Chairs in the future and what expectations we should have – I talked about Ben and what he did, and everyone agreed that Ben was exactly the kind of Chair these events are for. Thank you, Ben!
RNC Meetings and Presidential Debate
This coming week, August 22nd through 25th, Chairman Justin Hwang, NCW Solomon Yue, and I are heading to Milwaukee, WI for our Summer RNC Meeting. As a member of the Committee on Arrangements for the Republican National Convention, I’ll be heading out a day early for events and meetings related to the Convention. This particular RNC meeting is packed – it’s going to be a very busy week!
While I get a lot out of every RNC Meeting, I’m extra excited for this meeting as I’ll be going to the the first (and my first) GOP Primary Debate. All members, along with their 2 guests, were invited and I’m very happy to be taking my husband/CD1 Vice Chair, Christian Honl, and ORP’s new Finance Chair Dan Mason to both the RNC Meeting and the debate! This is a first for both of them and I expect they will come back excited with lots of news and information to share.
I encourage you all to watch the debate and even host a little debate party! Host a Debate Watch party at your house, your GOP office, or maybe you have a restaurant or venue near by that will host a small gathering. This evening, I’ll send ORP Secretary Jo Rae Perkins a packet to help you prepare for a party. If you are hosting a party of any size, please let me know – even better, send a picture that I can share!
