Hillsboro Player Wins $4.2 Million Oregon Megabucks Jackpot
HILLSBORO, Ore. — A 54-year-old Hillsboro resident won a $4.2 million jackpot playing Oregon’s Game Megabucks after purchasing a winning ticket at a local Chevron station for the October 10 drawing.
The winning ticket was sold at Tanasbourne West Chevron, located at 7499 NE Imbrie Drive in Hillsboro. The winner has chosen to remain anonymous.
Chevron owner Aref Zghoul said the jackpot was the first major jackpot-winning ticket sold at his store, which has been an Oregon Lottery retailer since 2020.
“I was really shocked,” Zghoul said after receiving the news from the Oregon Lottery. “I thought maybe a few hundred, but when she said $4.2 million, I was shocked.”
The store will receive a $42,000 bonus from the Oregon Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
Zghoul said he plans to share the proceeds with his employees, giving bonuses to all 12 workers. Manny Martinez, the clerk who sold the winning ticket, will receive a special bonus.
Zghoul also plans to donate money to an Oregon-based youth charity and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation USA. The remaining funds will go toward small improvements at the store.
“We are very glad that it was one of our customers and hopefully, one of our regulars,” Zghoul said.
Oregon’s Game Megabucks offers players a chance to win multimillion-dollar jackpots. The game’s jackpot resets to $1 million after a winner claims the top prize.
The Hillsboro win follows a $3.2 million Megabucks jackpot won in Prineville in June.
The Oregon Lottery recommends that players sign the backs of their tickets to help protect their ability to claim prizes. Anyone who wins a jackpot is also encouraged to consult a trusted financial planner or other qualified professional to develop a plan for managing their winnings.
Players have one year from the drawing date to claim their prizes.
