Pilot Suffers Minor Injuries in Lane County Plane Crash

A pilot suffered minor injuries after a small plane crashed in a field in Lane County on September 27.

At about 12:10 p.m., the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a plane crash in the 79800 block of Sears Road. A passerby reported seeing a person sitting in a field next to an airplane.

Fire personnel from South Lane Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene and treated the pilot, who was the only person aboard the aircraft. The pilot suffered minor injuries.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, another aviator had been following the aircraft and witnessed the crash.

Deputies provided the information they gathered at the scene to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The investigation remains ongoing.
