First Lady Melania Trump Announces Expansion of Children’s Technology Coalition to 57 Countries

First Lady Melania Trump announced that 57 countries now participate in Fostering the Future Together, a coalition focused on children’s access to technology and education. She outlined new private-sector partnerships and four planned events during a gathering held alongside the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The White House announcement identified Adobe, Amazon, Intel, Starlink, Google and Zoom as new technology partners. It did not specify the contributions each company would make, the cost of the partnerships or how many children they would reach.

Trump said she would host a coalition event at the G20 gathering in Miami in December. She also announced events connected to an ASEAN conference in the Philippines, a European meeting hosted by Poland’s first lady and a Caribbean meeting hosted by the first lady of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Representatives from countries including the United Kingdom, South Korea, the Philippines, Poland, Ukraine, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Panama and Canada attended, according to the White House. Trump urged participating leaders to help children develop the knowledge and skills to use emerging technology. “Access alone is not empowerment,” she said in remarks prepared for the event. “We must give our children the tools—and teach them how to use those tools wisely.”

Trump launched the coalition during last year’s General Assembly. Its first summit, held in Washington in March, brought together representatives from 45 countries, according to the White House. The newly announced membership of 57 countries marks an increase of 12 from that gathering.
