Two Killed in Highway 126 Crash in Lane County

LANE COUNTY, Ore. — Two people were killed Friday night after a Subaru Forester left Highway 126W and struck a tree in Lane County, according to Oregon State Police.

The crash was reported at about 10:02 p.m. Sept. 18 near milepost 33. OSP said a red Subaru Forester driven by 48-year-old Max Timothy Hill of Newberg was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when, for reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the shoulder.

Hill was pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old male passenger also died at the scene.

The highway was affected for approximately four hours while authorities investigated the crash.

Western Lane EMS, Siuslaw Valley Fire Department, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted Oregon State Police at the scene.
