BEND, Ore. — A 47-year-old Bend man was arrested Thursday after police say he sent sexually explicit messages and images to an officer posing as a 16-year-old girl.
Bend Police said they received a report July 31 about a man approaching a 16-year-old girl at a neighborhood pool and asking for her phone number so she could babysit his child.
The man was later identified as Collin Evan Fogel of Bend. After obtaining the girl’s number, Fogel began texting her. Police said the girl became uncomfortable with the messages and reported the contact to authorities.
A Bend police officer then took over the conversation and posed as the teenager. According to police, Fogel repeatedly sent sexually explicit messages and images to the undercover officer.
At about 12:44 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, the officer posing as the teenager agreed to meet Fogel in a parking lot in the 61300 block of South Highway 97.
Police said Fogel arrived at the meeting location and was arrested.
Fogel was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail on suspicion of luring a minor for sexual conduct and first-degree online sexual corruption of a minor.
The case remains under investigation.
