Portland police seized large quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine and arrested two people during three drug investigations conducted over two days, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Detectives with PPB’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit began the enforcement activity Tuesday, Aug. 4, with an interdiction operation in Troutdale. Investigators reported seizing 13 pounds of methamphetamine and identifying several people believed to have connections to multistate drug trafficking organizations.
No arrests were announced in connection with the Troutdale operation, and police said the investigation remains active.
On Wednesday, Aug. 5, investigators conducted a second operation in the 9800 block of Southeast Washington Street in Portland. Police seized approximately 328 grams of fentanyl and $1,270 in cash.
One person was arrested on drug-related charges, but police did not release the individual’s name, citing the continuing investigation.
Later Wednesday, detectives conducted another operation near Southeast 33rd Avenue and Southeast Oak Street. Police arrested one person on drug-related charges and searched the suspect’s vehicle.
The search reportedly produced approximately 1,141.2 grams—or about 2.5 pounds—of fentanyl, 45.2 grams of heroin and $1,650 in cash.
Combined, the two Wednesday operations resulted in the seizure of approximately 1,469 grams, or more than 3.2 pounds, of fentanyl.
“Every gram of fentanyl removed from our community represents lives potentially saved,” PPB Chief Bob Day said. “These investigations reflect the dedication of our NOC Unit to holding drug traffickers accountable while disrupting the flow of dangerous drugs into our neighborhoods.”
