Sisters, Ore. — The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office announces evacuation notices for the Akawa Butte Fire are unchanged as of today. All levels updated on Tuesday, July 28, remain in effect until further notice.
The Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with fire officials on daily condition assessments throughout the fire area. Any changes to evacuation levels will be communicated to the public as conditions and safety improve.
During Tuesday night’s community meeting in Sisters, incident commanders reported steady progress and expressed confidence in current containment efforts. While the fire is considered under control, crews have not yet reached full containment, and suppression work remains active.
