SALEM, Ore. — A Marion County man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges involving the sexual abuse and rape of a young child.
Earlier this week, Marion County Circuit Court Judge Jodie Bureta sentenced Raymond John Kadin, 42, to 32 years in the Oregon Department of Corrections, followed by a lifetime of post-prison supervision. Kadin pleaded guilty to two counts of First-Degree Sexual Abuse and two counts of First-Degree Rape in Marion County Circuit Court Case No. 25CR30944.
According to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, the abuse occurred over several years while the victim was between the ages of 4 and 10. Authorities said the victim did not disclose the abuse until she was 12 years old while receiving mental health treatment, when she confided in a family member. Investigators said Kadin had instructed the child not to tell anyone about the abuse.
Following the disclosure, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation. The victim participated in a forensic interview in which she described the abuse in detail before later testifying before a grand jury, which returned an indictment against Kadin.
“The defendant abused a child’s trust for several years and told her to stay silent,” said District Attorney-elect Brendan Murphy. “Her courage in coming forward is what made this outcome possible, and this office will continue to pursue these cases without hesitation.”
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kylie Kuhns.
The Marion County District Attorney’s Office also credited the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for conducting a thorough investigation in partnership with an out-of-state Child Advocacy Center.
Because of the sensitive nature of the case and to protect the victim’s privacy, prosecutors said no additional details will be released.
