ROSEBURG, Ore. — Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was killed in a late-night collision on Diamond Lake Boulevard in Roseburg as China Anna-Marie Fields, 36, of Winston.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 11:42 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, when officers with the Roseburg Police Department, along with firefighters and emergency medical personnel, responded to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian east of Northeast Pomona Street.
According to investigators, law enforcement had received reports shortly before the collision of a woman wearing dark clothing in the median of Diamond Lake Boulevard. Witnesses reported she was waving her arms and allegedly jumping into traffic in front of passing vehicles.
The preliminary investigation found that a white Jeep Cherokee, driven by Ryan Mays Jr., 19, was traveling westbound in the inside lane of Diamond Lake Boulevard when the vehicle struck Fields.
Fields was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mays was not injured in the collision and has been cooperating with investigators.
Police said that based on the preliminary investigation, the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature. The investigation remains ongoing.
The Roseburg Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Roseburg Fire Department, and Umpqua Valley Ambulance.
