BEND, Ore. — A man died Monday morning after being struck by a BNSF train near Reed Market Road, according to the Bend Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 4:38 a.m. on July 20 after a BNSF train conductor reported that a pedestrian had been struck near the railroad crossing at Reed Market Road.
When officers arrived, the northbound train had come to a stop, blocking both eastbound and westbound traffic on Reed Market Road. Police located an unconscious man on the west side of the railroad tracks and immediately began CPR.
The victim was transported by Bend Fire & Rescue to St. Charles Bend, where he later died from his injuries.
Reed Market Road remained closed in both directions for approximately two hours while Bend Police and BNSF Railway investigators processed the scene and conducted their investigation.
Authorities have not released the identity of the man pending notification of his family.
The incident remains under investigation by Bend Police and BNSF Railway.
