SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon State Fire Marshal has mobilized its Green Incident Management Team and four structural task forces to the Olive Butte Fire in Grant County as rapidly changing fire conditions prompted evacuations for the town of Granite.
On Saturday evening, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 3 (Go Now) evacuation notice for Granite after the wildfire intensified, prompting an expanded response from state and local agencies.
To support firefighting efforts, the Oregon State Fire Marshal is deploying structural protection task forces from Clackamas, Lane, and Washington counties Saturday evening, with additional resources scheduled to arrive Sunday. The teams will focus on defending homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure threatened by the advancing wildfire.
“While our wildland partners focus on the perimeter of the fire itself, our resources will work to protect homes and critical infrastructure,” Oregon State Fire Marshal Travis Medema said. “This partnership is vital as we face what has been a very busy weekend for firefighters across the state.”
The Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Green Incident Management Team will operate in unified command with Northwest Team 12, coordinating structural protection efforts alongside ongoing wildland firefighting operations.
Late Saturday, Governor Tina Kotek invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act, authorizing the Oregon State Fire Marshal to mobilize additional firefighting resources through the Oregon Fire Mutual Aid System. The declaration marks the second time the Emergency Conflagration Act has been invoked in Oregon during 2026.
Officials encourage residents to stay informed about evacuation notices and changing fire conditions through the Grant County Emergency Management page and the Oregon Department of Emergency Management’s RAPTOR Dashboard.
The Oregon State Fire Marshal, which became an independent state agency in July 2023, works with local fire agencies and emergency partners statewide to protect lives, property, and the environment from fire and hazardous materials.
