BEND, Ore. — A 33-year-old Prineville man was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly firing multiple gunshots during a confrontation while making a food delivery in northeast Bend.
According to the Bend Police Department, officers responded at approximately 3:16 a.m. on June 26 to multiple reports of gunfire in the 19600 block of Poplar Street. One caller told dispatchers they had been shot at by a DoorDash driver who was leaving the neighborhood.
The investigation determined that the victim’s brother had ordered food through the DoorDash app. While waiting outside the residence in a vehicle, the victim reportedly became upset with the delivery driver’s manner of driving through the neighborhood. A verbal confrontation followed between the two.
Police said the delivery driver, identified as Tyler James Blaylock, 33, of Prineville, allegedly fired multiple shots as he drove away from the scene. Investigators recovered spent shell casings that were consistent with witness reports.
Shortly before 4 a.m., a deputy with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office located Blaylock’s vehicle traveling north on Highway 97 near milepost 131. With assistance from the Redmond Police Department, the vehicle was stopped on Airport Way in Redmond, where Blaylock was detained without incident.
Blaylock was taken into custody by Bend Police and arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering, and menacing. He was initially held at the Bend Police Department before being lodged at the Deschutes County Jail.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who lives in the area or has information related to the shooting is asked to contact Bend Police detectives at 541-693-6911.
Bend Police thanked the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the Redmond Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
