PRINEVILLE, Ore. — Mayor Jason Beebe has resigned from the Prineville City Council and his position as mayor, effective June 15, citing personal reasons.
Beebe’s departure marks the end of a lengthy tenure in city leadership. He first joined the Prineville City Council in 2011 and was elected mayor in 2021. His current term was set to expire on Dec. 31, 2026.
City Manager Steve Forrester praised Beebe’s contributions to the city, highlighting his role in strengthening Prineville’s financial position and supporting major infrastructure improvements during his time in office.
“Mayor Beebe has been a committed leader who helped position the City on a strong financial foundation while supporting important investments in our water, street, and wastewater infrastructure,” Forrester said in a statement. “His focus on long-term planning has helped ensure Prineville remains a strong and stable community for generations to come.”
Under the provisions of the city’s charter, Council President Steve Uffelman will assume the duties of mayor following Beebe’s resignation. The City Council is expected to determine the process for filling the vacant council seat in the coming weeks.
City officials expressed gratitude for Beebe’s years of service and leadership, thanking him for his dedication to the community.
Located in Central Oregon’s high desert, Prineville serves as the county seat of Crook County and is home to more than 11,900 residents. The city has experienced significant growth in recent years while maintaining its agricultural heritage and small-town character. Prineville is also known for hosting major technology investments, including data centers operated by companies such as Meta and Apple.
Beebe’s resignation takes effect immediately as city leaders begin the transition process and prepare to fill the vacancy on the council.
