Gresham, Oregon – In recognition of the FIFA World Cup, Oregon State Representative Ricki Ruiz posted a meme depicting an official “work excuse form for fans who may be saddened by their team’s performance:

🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
With the FIFA World Cup kicking off on June 11, I have taken the liberty of issuing an *Official World Cup Season Work Excuse for anyone whose productivity may be impacted by early kickoffs, dramatic stoppage-time goals, penalty shootouts, questionable VAR decisions, and the emotional rollercoaster that is international soccer.
Feel free to print it, share it with your coworkers, leave it on your boss’s desk, or frame it next to your television.
After all, the World Cup only comes around once every four years. Opportunities to witness your team become world champions (or break your heart) are simply too important to miss.
*Disclaimer: This post and accompanying letter are intended as a joke and for entertainment purposes only. They are not an official government document, legal authorization, medical excuse, or valid reason to miss work. Please don’t blame me if your boss says no. 😄
