DUNE CITY, Ore. — A Dune City man was arrested Friday after a vehicle crash that injured two passengers riding in the bed of a pickup truck, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 4 p.m. on May 30 to a reported injury crash in the 4600 block of Pacific Avenue in Dune City. During the investigation, deputies learned that two occupants who were riding in the bed of the truck had fallen out of the vehicle.
Both individuals were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. Authorities did not release information regarding the extent of their injuries.
The driver was identified as 49-year-old Benjamin Robert Engler of Dune City. Following the investigation, Engler was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), and reckless endangering.
Engler was lodged at the Lane County Jail.
The crash remains under investigation.
