VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Vancouver Fire Department recently partnered with The Cardinal Pre-School at St. Joseph Catholic School to provide young students with hands-on fire safety education as part of the department’s ongoing community outreach and prevention efforts.
During the visit, firefighters engaged preschool students in interactive lessons designed to teach important fire safety skills and emergency preparedness. Children learned how and when to call 9-1-1, identify common fire hazards, understand the importance of smoke alarms, and respond appropriately during an emergency.
Firefighters also shared information about their role in protecting the community, helping students become more familiar and comfortable with emergency responders.
The Vancouver Fire Department expressed appreciation to the staff and administration of St. Joseph Elementary School and The Cardinal Pre-School for welcoming firefighters into the classroom and supporting efforts to teach life-saving safety habits at an early age.
Department officials also recognized the firefighters who volunteered their time to participate in the event, helping make the educational experience engaging and memorable for students.
According to the department, community outreach programs remain a vital part of its mission. While emergency response is a core responsibility, fire prevention and public education play an equally important role in keeping residents safe.
By introducing fire safety concepts to children at a young age, the department hopes to help build a safer and more resilient community while strengthening trust and relationships between residents and local firefighters.
The Vancouver Fire Department said it values opportunities to connect with the public through educational programs and remains committed to fostering meaningful community partnerships that promote safety and preparedness.
