MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. — The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning road rage shooting in unincorporated Multnomah County and is asking the public for help identifying the person responsible.
According to authorities, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 2:44 a.m. Sunday, May 31, reporting that a vehicle had been struck by gunfire near the intersection of Southeast Foster Road and Southeast Richey Road.
Investigators say a 24-year-old man was driving a silver 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck eastbound on Southeast Foster Road when he passed a blue Ford Expedition. Moments after the pass, someone inside the SUV allegedly opened fire on the pickup.
Deputies responding to the scene located evidence consistent with the shooting, including shell casings on the roadway and bullet damage to the victim’s truck.
Three people were inside the Dodge Ram at the time of the incident, including the 24-year-old driver, a 19-year-old man, and a 22-year-old woman. Despite the gunfire, no injuries were reported.
Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle reportedly continued eastbound on Southeast Foster Road toward Clackamas County. Deputies from both the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Authorities describe the suspect vehicle as an older-model dark blue Ford Expedition with a distinctive gold-colored bumper. The SUV reportedly had no license plates and displayed a temporary tag in the lower-left corner of the rear window.
Investigators are asking residents and businesses along Southeast Foster Road, particularly near Southeast Richey Road and Southeast 172nd Avenue, to review any surveillance footage or photographs captured between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on May 31 for vehicles matching the description.
Anyone with information about the identity of the shooter or the location of the Ford Expedition is urged to contact the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office tip line at (503) 988-0560 or email tips@mcso.us, referencing case number 26-23665. Urgent non-emergency tips can also be reported by calling 503-823-3333.
Officials emphasized that details released thus far are preliminary and may change as the investigation continues.
