KEIZER, Ore. — Law enforcement agencies across Oregon partnered last week in a coordinated effort aimed at ensuring compliance among registered sex offenders living in Keizer.
Operation Dove Watch, conducted Thursday, May 14, brought together the Keizer Police Department, the United States Marshals Service, and the Oregon State Police.
The multi-agency operation focused on offenders residing within the city who met one or more targeted criteria, including individuals who failed to meet registration requirements, offenders with outstanding warrants, all Level 3 offenders, and offenders with federal, military, tribal, or multiple sex crime convictions.
Authorities said 232 registered offenders were reviewed during a pre-screening process, with 75 selected for direct contact and compliance checks during the operation.
As a result of the investigation, eight individuals were found to be out of compliance with Oregon sex offender registration laws.
According to officials, the eight individuals were arrested and lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility on charges of failing to report as a sex offender by missing their annual reporting requirement. In one case, health-related concerns prevented an arrest and transport, and that individual was instead issued a citation to appear in court and released.
Police said all eight individuals were classified as low to moderate risk for reoffending.
In a statement following the operation, the Keizer Police Department thanked its partner agencies, including the United States Marshals Service, the Oregon State Police Sex Offender Registration Section, and the Willamette Valley Communications Center, for their assistance in supporting public safety efforts within the community.
