Clackamas County, OR. — A Washington state man who admitted participating in a 2024 Wilsonville liquor store burglary that netted more than $25,000 in rare and high-end alcohol was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison in Clackamas County Circuit Court.
Kyle Dean Runyon, 36, of Ryderwood, Washington, pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree aggravated theft for his role in the October 20, 2024 break-in at Stafford Beverage in Wilsonville, as well as a separate burglary at a West Linn storage facility days earlier.
Prosecutors said Wilsonville police responded around 2:53 a.m. to Stafford Beverage on Southwest Jack Burns Boulevard after suspects shattered the front door and a display case. Surveillance footage showed three people entering the store, stealing premium liquor, and fleeing through an emergency exit while a fourth suspect allegedly acted as a lookout.
The stolen inventory included nearly $8,000 in Patron El Cielo tequila, a Bushmills 30-year-old single malt valued at more than $2,100, and a Macallan 30 Year Old Scotch worth roughly $5,500. Total losses were valued at $25,132.15.
Runyon’s plea also covered his involvement in the October 16, 2024 burglary of a West Linn storage unit, where thieves twice cut locks and stole more than $70,000 in property. Investigators later recovered all stolen storage unit items after a multi-agency investigation and multiple search warrants.
As part of the plea agreement, additional burglary and theft charges against Runyon were dismissed. Court records noted his prior convictions in Washington for assault, theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, and vehicle theft.
Co-defendant Jessica Nicole Van Hooser, 39, previously pleaded guilty to burglary and aggravated theft charges tied to the liquor store case and received 24 months of probation plus 20 days in jail, reflecting sentencing guidelines for a first-time felony offender.
Two additional defendants, Jimmy Cristea, 40, and Connie May Lance, 54, both of Vancouver, Washington, are scheduled for trial October 6, 2026, on charges related to both the Wilsonville and West Linn thefts.
Deputy District Attorney Tiffany Escover prosecuted the cases.
