LINN COUNTY, Ore. — May 4, 2026 — A 53-year-old woman from Terrebonne was rescued Sunday after suffering a serious knee injury while hiking near Blue Pool, according to Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan.
Dispatchers received the call at approximately 12:00 p.m. on May 3 reporting an injured hiker in a remote and steep area. Due to difficult terrain and limited access, Linn County Search & Rescue (SAR) quickly mobilized its technical rope rescue team.
Several agencies assisted in the operation, including the Upper McKenzie Rural Fire District, Lane County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, and Eugene Mountain Rescue.
Because of the location’s challenging conditions, Linn County SAR coordinated with the Oregon Department of Emergency Management to request air support. A helicopter from the United States Coast Guard responded and conducted a hoist rescue after crews prepared the patient.
The Coast Guard transported the woman to a nearby airfield, where she was transferred to the Sweet Home Fire District and taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend for treatment. Her condition has not been released.
During the rescue, a separate search and rescue incident was reported in the Pamelia Lake area. Sheriff Duncan thanked the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue for responding to that call.
Officials remind hikers to be prepared for rugged conditions and to carry proper gear when exploring remote areas.
