Washington, D.C. — President Donald J. Trump announced that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is dead following what he described as a coordinated operation involving U.S. intelligence and close cooperation with Israel.
In a public statement, Trump characterized Khamenei as responsible for the deaths of Americans and others worldwide, calling the development “justice for the people of Iran” and for victims of actions attributed to Iran’s leadership and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Trump said the operation relied on U.S. intelligence capabilities and “highly sophisticated tracking systems,” adding that multiple Iranian leaders were killed. He described the moment as a potential turning point for Iran, suggesting it represents “the single greatest chance” for the Iranian people to reclaim control of their country.
According to Trump, reports indicate that some members of Iran’s military, IRGC, and security forces may be seeking immunity and are reluctant to continue fighting. He stated that those who cooperate could receive immunity, while those who resist would face continued military consequences.
The president also said heavy and targeted bombing operations would continue “throughout the week or as long as necessary” to achieve broader regional objectives. He framed the campaign as part of an effort to secure peace across the Middle East and globally.
As of this publication, there has been no independent confirmation from Iranian officials or international monitors regarding Khamenei’s reported death. The situation remains fluid, and further details are expected as governments respond to the announcement.
