Lincoln County, OR. — A pilot escaped injury Wednesday afternoon after a plane crashed into trees near Wakonda Beach Airport in Waldport.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a report at approximately 1:35 p.m. on February 11 of an airplane crash at the Wakonda Beach Airport. The aircraft was described as severely damaged and lodged about 50 feet up in trees, with the pilot still inside.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and made contact with the pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft. Crews safely extricated the pilot from the plane, and medical personnel evaluated the individual at the scene. Authorities reported no injuries or fatalities.
Officials said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The case has been turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration for further review.
