Gresham, OR. — Officers with the Gresham Police Department responded to two separate reports of gunfire Monday evening, one of which was confirmed as a shooting that caused property damage.
The first incident, Case #26-3925, occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 18500 block of SE Yamhill Circle. Officers were flagged down by a person reporting gunfire in the area. Police located evidence consistent with a shooting, including damage to a vehicle. The suspect or suspects fled before officers arrived, and the investigation remains ongoing.
A second call, Case #26-3957, was reported at approximately 11:00 p.m. near the entrance of an apartment complex in the 100 block of SE 188th Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot and seeing juvenile males running through the area.
Officers contacted four teenagers, ages 14 to 16. A fifth juvenile fled and was not located. The teens told officers they heard a gunshot and ran because they feared for their safety. No injuries were reported in either incident.
Gresham Police officials said all reports of gunfire are taken seriously. Patrol officers, detectives, and the department’s Ceasefire team continue coordinated efforts to investigate shootings, prevent violence, and hold offenders accountable.
“Every shots call matters,” said Captain Don Livingston, who leads the Ceasefire program’s bi-weekly shooting review and coordination meetings. “Our officers respond, our officers and detectives follow up, and our partners work to interrupt violence before someone is hurt.”
