Harney County, OR. — A 25-year-old Terrebonne man was killed Wednesday evening following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 in eastern Oregon, according to authorities.
At approximately 5:37 p.m. on December 31, 2026, troopers with the Oregon State Police responded to a crash near milepost 84 on Highway 20 in Harney County.
Preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound Honda Accord driven by Christopher Emanuel Cortez Morales, 25, of Terrebonne, lost control and crossed into the eastbound lane. The Honda clipped an eastbound Audi A6 driven by Jennifer Tiffany Carey, 53, of Bend.
The impact caused the Honda to roll, ejecting Morales from the vehicle. Investigators determined Morales was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Carey, the driver of the Audi, was reportedly uninjured.
Highway 20 was impacted for approximately one and a half hours while investigators worked the scene. Authorities said driver impairment is being considered as a primary contributing factor in the crash.
The Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
