Portland, OR. — Just before midnight on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of four individuals breaking into parked vehicles near the 17000 block of NW Countryridge Drive.
Before deputies arrived, the suspects fled the area in a dark-colored sedan. Deputies later located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver accelerated southbound on NW Bethany Boulevard before crashing near NW Bronson Road.
Following the crash, four individuals ran from the vehicle. Deputies quickly apprehended three suspects, all determined to be juveniles. The fourth suspect fled on foot but was later located with assistance from a Sheriff’s Office K9 named Puddles and a caller who reported seeing the individual hiding in a nearby yard while on a cellphone.
The fourth suspect was identified as 18-year-old Jayden Collins of Portland. Investigators determined Collins was the driver and discovered he was attempting to contact the vehicle’s owner to persuade them to falsely report the car as stolen.
Collins was taken into custody and lodged at the Washington County Jail on charges including attempting to elude in a vehicle, attempting to elude on foot, reckless driving, criminal conspiracy, and second-degree criminal trespass.
Deputies believe additional theft victims may not yet have come forward.
