Newport, OR. — Newport Police officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at 27 S. Coast Highway after the victim reported the theft while shopping inside a local business.
Newport Police, assisted by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies, immediately began searching for the vehicle. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect as Nicholas Copeland Hiseley.
A short time later, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy located the stolen vehicle in Newport. Deputies and officers conducted a traffic stop near West Olive Street and Northwest High Street, where Hiseley was identified as the driver.
Hiseley, 41, of Newport, was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. He faces charges including first-degree theft, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a vehicle, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
