Oregon City, OR. — Two homes on Applegate Terrace were evacuated and the remainder of the street was placed under a “Level 1 – Be Ready” notice due to landslide activity, according to city officials.
Emergency personnel were alerted after a resident observed signs of the hillside behind their home shifting. Crews from Clackamas Fire, Clackamas County Disaster Services, Clackamas County Health Housing and Human Services, Oregon City Public Works, and Oregon City Police responded to the scene.
Oregon City Police deployed a drone to assist with aerial inspection of the hillside. An initial assessment by Central Geotechnical Services indicated that slide activity was limited to the reporting residence and one adjacent home.
Officials said a more detailed inspection of the hillside is scheduled for Sunday morning, as darkness limited further evaluation efforts Saturday evening.
Crews from Oregon City Public Works’ wastewater and water divisions also inspected sewer and water lines downhill from the affected area. No damage was observed, and officials reported no signs of landslide activity extending beyond the immediate site.
The city said additional updates will be provided if conditions change or further inspections warrant new information.
