Oregon — Heavy rain and strong winds are causing high water, landslides, and vegetation impacts across northwest Oregon highways, prompting multiple closures and travel warnings from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
ODOT is urging drivers to use extra caution, allow additional travel time, or postpone trips if possible. Motorists should watch for standing water, debris in roadways, utility and highway crews at work, and traffic signals without power, which should be treated as four-way stops.
As of Friday morning, the following highway closures are in effect in the Portland area and surrounding regions:
- OR 99E in Oregon City is closed near the tunnel due to flooding.
- OR 211 is closed near the intersection with South Macksburg Road after the Molalla River flooded nearly two miles of the highway.
- OR 224 is closed near Three Lynx, about 20 miles southeast of Estacada, due to a landslide.
- The Historic Columbia River Highway remains closed just west of Vista House because of a landslide.
- OR 35 is closed from its junction with U.S. 26 to about halfway to Hood River due to landslides.
ODOT advises travelers to check TripCheck.com before revealing travel anywhere in northwest Oregon this week for the most up-to-date information on highway closures and severe weather impacts.
