Portland, OR. — James Moore, an 89-year-old Portland man reported missing on December 8, 2025, was found deceased Sunday evening in Yamhill County, authorities confirmed.
According to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), Moore was located at approximately 5:30 p.m. on December 14 inside his vehicle on a logging road in Yamhill County. Investigators reported no signs of foul play. PPB extended condolences to Moore’s family.
Moore was last seen on the afternoon of December 8 after dropping his wife off at a store in the Jantzen Beach area. He told her he planned to spend time at a nearby deli and was expected to return around 2:45 p.m., but never did. When he failed to return, police were notified and an endangered missing person alert was issued due to his age and health concerns.
In the days following his disappearance, PPB released updates correcting the description of Moore’s vehicle, clarifying that he was driving a black 2021 Chevrolet Malibu with a temporary Washington registration and Dick Hannah license plate placards.
PPB thanked the public for its assistance during the search and confirmed the investigation has been concluded.
