Columbia City, OR. — Columbia City’s December 2025 newsletter outlines a busy month of holiday activities, community programs, and civic updates for residents.
One of the month’s featured events is the annual Christmas Ship visit on December 13, when the decorated fleet will travel downriver from St. Helens and pass Columbia City if weather and river conditions allow. The fleet is expected to be on the river for approximately two hours, offering a seasonal attraction for riverfront residents and visitors.
The City also reported success in its community peanut butter drive, with more than 100 jars donated by late November. In addition, Columbia City announced the receipt of two grants: $2,500 from Walmart to support the Shop with a Cop program scheduled for December 13, and $4,000 from the Oregon Community Foundation to support the city’s Centennial celebration planned for June 6, 2026.
Statewide transportation changes were also noted. Oregon vehicle title and registration fees will increase beginning December 31, 2025, following passage of House Bill 3991. The legislation is intended to raise revenue for maintenance and safety improvements across the state’s transportation system.
The Columbia City Community Library highlighted several December programs, including holiday card-making workshops, Grab & Go craft kits for children, and discounted youth and young adult books during the holiday break. The library also announced a partnership allowing cardholders to check out free passes to the Columbia River Maritime Museum, expanding no-cost cultural access for county residents.
In a public safety message, Police Chief Jerry Bartolomucci reminded residents to take precautions against package theft during the holiday season and summarized police activity for October, during which officers responded to 125 service calls.
The newsletter also looked ahead to Columbia City’s upcoming centennial, with a call for residents to share historical photos, documents, and memories that may be used in future displays or publications commemorating the city’s 100 years of incorporation.
