Salem, OR. — To celebrate the 2025 holiday season and support local businesses, the City of Salem has temporarily suspended paid on-street parking in the Downtown Parking District on Saturday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025.
The parking suspension applies to on-street parking meters from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both days. In addition to free metered parking, downtown parkades will also be available at no cost, making it easier for residents and visitors to shop, dine, and explore downtown Salem during the holidays.
“We are excited to announce free parking for the next two Saturdays,” said Kristin Retherford, Salem Community Planning and Development Director. “We are grateful that our parking meter programmers were able to do some holiday magic just in time to give Salem a gift. Free downtown parking this Saturday and next Saturday.”
Downtown Salem features a wide range of local shops, restaurants, entertainment venues, and scenic walking and biking trails. City officials encourage the community to take advantage of the free parking opportunity to enjoy seasonal events and support downtown businesses.
