Lane County, OR. — Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue (SAR) teams have found missing mushroom picker Erik Everardo Aguilar-Cisneros alive in the Hadsall Creek area south of Mapleton.
Aguilar-Cisneros, 32, of Springfield, was located Wednesday afternoon and transported to an area hospital for treatment related to hypothermia, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said additional details will be released as they become available.
The search began late on December 6, when deputies were notified around 9 p.m. that Aguilar-Cisneros had gone missing while mushroom picking with several friends near Hadsall Creek Road. When he failed to return, deputies and detectives responded, and Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue initiated an extensive search operation.
Over the following days, SAR deputies and volunteers searched continuously, including overnight efforts. Teams used ground searchers, K9 units, and drones to cover the area. Authorities described the terrain as extremely rugged, with steep drainages that often required rope systems to access.
During the search, investigators believed Aguilar-Cisneros was lost in the area. He was described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 220 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last known to be wearing a black raincoat, black rain pants, and a black-and-red baseball hat.
Lane County Sheriff’s Office officials credited the coordinated efforts of SAR volunteers and deputies for the successful rescue and thanked the public for their concern and support during the search.
