Redmond, OR. — The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Washington man on November 24, 2025, concluding a lengthy online child exploitation investigation.
Deputies took Daniel James Mayfield, 33, of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, into custody after he allegedly engaged in explicit conversations with an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Investigators say Mayfield traveled to Deschutes County intending to meet the minor for sexual activity.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives, the Digital Forensics Unit, SWAT, and the U.S. Marshals Service coordinated the operation. Officers contacted Mayfield at a location off Rimrock Way in Redmond, where he had arranged the meeting. A search of the scene uncovered additional evidence.
Mayfield was arrested without incident and booked into the Deschutes County Adult Jail on charges of Luring a Minor, Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree, and Attempted Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree.
The investigation is ongoing.
