Salem, OR. — A domestic violence shooting Friday evening left a 31-year-old man injured and prompted a SWAT response that ended with the suspect’s arrest.
Salem police officers responded to a 911 report of a man who had been shot. They found the victim in the street near a residence in the 3300 block of Ferndell Street NE with a gunshot wound to his face. The victim told officers he had been shot in front of a nearby home. Medics transported him to the hospital, where he was treated and is expected to recover.
Officers secured the area and called in the Salem SWAT team to take over negotiations with the suspect. Members of the Crisis Negotiations Team issued commands at the scene before 43-year-old Sany Morales of Salem surrendered without further incident.
Morales was booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, along with several unrelated warrants. The investigation is ongoing.
