Clackamas County, OR. – The Clackamas County Children’s Commission (ClackCoKids) will host a Grand Opening Ceremony for the new Mayer Art Early Childhood Center on Wednesday, November 26, at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held at 3055 S. Furman Dr. on the historic Marylhurst Campus.
The celebration will feature a ribbon cutting, campus tour, and light refreshments as the organization expands its presence on the Marylhurst site. The campus already houses ClackCoKids’ Central Kitchen and Administrative Offices.
The new early childhood center includes five classrooms, two playgrounds, and a dedicated community partner space designed to support collaboration on parenting, child development, and family reunification services.
Executive Director Darcee Kilsdonk said the project reflects broad support from both state leaders and community partners.
“I feel honored by the generosity of the Oregon Legislature and the Office of Head Start for their willingness to help us serve more children and families in our community,” Kilsdonk said. “I am especially grateful for the support we received from our community partners as well as Senate President Robert Wagner, Representative Daniel Nguyen, Senator Mark Meek, and the Region 10 Office of Head Start. Their assistance enables us to continue our publicly funded services and efforts to eliminate poverty and address the childcare desert in Clackamas County.”
The new center will serve as a hub for early learning and wrap-around family support services across the county.
