Portland, OR. — A Portland man pleaded guilty Wednesday to setting fire to debris piled against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in South Portland, federal prosecutors announced.
Trenten Edward Barker, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of Arson of a Federal Building.
According to court documents, on June 11, 2025, a group of individuals constructed a barricade of large objects and debris against the vehicle gate of the ICE building in an effort to block law enforcement officers from exiting. Barker removed a lit flare from his backpack and threw it onto the barricade. The flare ignited the debris, starting a fire at the federal facility.
Barker was charged by information on October 22, 2025.
He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for March 4, 2026, before a U.S. District Court judge.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Portland Police Bureau investigated the case. It is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
