Oregon — The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) announced Friday that it is seeking four new volunteer members to serve on the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Committee, with four-year terms beginning January 1, 2026.
The nine-member committee plays a key role in evaluating grant proposals for public outdoor recreation projects seeking support from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), a National Park Service–funded program administered by OPRD.
Open seats include:
• A member representing people with disabilities
• A public-at-large representative
• A representative from a historically underrepresented community or Tribal Government
• A representative for cities over 15,000 population, employed by or professionally tied to a city and recommended by the Oregon Recreation and Park Association or League of Oregon Cities
Interested candidates must submit a committee interest form by November 24, 2025 at:

OPRD will review submissions, interview prospective members, and forward final appointments for confirmation by the OPRD Director.
Committee members serve four-year terms and may be eligible for reappointment. The group typically meets once per year, either virtually or in person, and reviews an average of 15 to 20 LWCF grant applications annually. OPRD says ideal candidates may come from any part of Oregon and may have backgrounds in outdoor recreation planning, design, volunteerism, or other relevant experience. Strong applicants will also demonstrate an understanding of statewide recreational needs and a commitment to equitable, inclusive access to outdoor spaces.
LWCF grants support local governments, Tribal governments, and eligible state agencies with land acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities.
For additional information, prospective applicants may contact Nohemi Enciso, LWCF Program Coordinator, at nohemi.enciso@oprd.oregon.gov or 503-480-9092.
