Corvallis, OR. – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) will once again bring holiday cheer to local families as it hosts the 31st Annual Shop with a Cop event this December. The long-running tradition pairs elementary-aged children with deputies, police officers, and social workers for a festive shopping trip designed to strengthen trust, foster positive relationships, and provide meaningful support during the holiday season.
The program is a collaboration between BCSO, Benton County Parole and Probation, and the Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare Office. Participating children were selected through partner agencies and will receive gift cards to purchase presents for themselves or loved ones during the event.
Public safety partners joining the effort this year include the Oregon State University Department of Public Safety, Corvallis Police Department, and Philomath Police Department.
The annual event is funded entirely through community and law enforcement donations. Contributions are accepted year-round and remain crucial to sustaining the program. Tax-deductible donations may be submitted via cash or check to The Sheriff’s Foundation with “Shop with a Cop” noted in the memo line. Donations can be mailed or delivered to:

“Shop with a Cop is one of the most meaningful traditions we participate in each year,” said Sheriff Van Arsdall. “It gives our deputies an opportunity to support local kids, build trust, and share in the joy of the season. We’re grateful for the community members and partner agencies who make this special event possible.”
The Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to contribute or learn more about how to support future Shop with a Cop events.
